If you look at the first image, this is what they would have seen for hundreds, if not nearly two thousand years, until the invention of photography, the rest of the images are the actual negative view from a regular photograph.
You can ask yourself a simple question, how would a forger be able to know that one day that photography would be created that might show the detail to a much higher extent. Its mind boggling...
To add even further weight to that puzzling thought, there is also 3D information packed into the image as well, that could not be achieved by anyone attempting to paint an image by hand, it is just not possible to recreate by even todays knowledge and technology.
There are claims that there is in fact, enough 3d information to help us generate a 3D model.
